WhatsApp Link Generator
Create a wa.me click-to-chat link with a pre-filled message — and a downloadable QR code.
Without country code. We strip the leading 0 automatically — type either 0322 4031899 or 3224031899.
Customers see this filled into their WhatsApp draft when they tap your link.
0/1024Print on flyers, table tents, packaging, or business cards. Scanning opens WhatsApp with your pre-filled message ready to send.
How it works
Enter your WhatsApp number
Pick your country code from the dropdown and type the rest. We strip the leading 0 automatically.
Write a pre-filled message (optional)
Whatever you type appears as a draft in the customer's WhatsApp — they only tap Send.
Copy the link or download the QR
Paste in your Instagram bio, business card, packaging, ad, or print the QR for table tents.
What is a WhatsApp link?
A WhatsApp link (also called a click-to-chat link or wa.me link) is a special URL in the format https://wa.me/<phone>. When a customer clicks or scans it, WhatsApp opens directly on their phone with your chat already started — no need to save your contact first. You can also pre-fill a message they'll see in the draft, so they just tap Send.
Meta (the company behind WhatsApp) supports two equivalent formats: wa.me/<phone> and api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=<phone>. Both work identically. The phone number must be in international format without symbols — Pakistan number 0322 4031899 becomes 923224031899 in the link.
Where to use your WhatsApp link
Social media bios
Add your wa.me link to Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn bios. One tap from your profile = one chat opened.
Product packaging & business cards
Print the QR on flyers, table tents, and packaging. Scanning auto-fills a message like "Hi, I bought your X — I have a question."
Email signatures & invoices
Drop the link as a clickable button — customers reach you on WhatsApp instead of getting lost in email threads.
Ads & landing pages
Use as your Meta Ads "Send Message" destination, or as the CTA button on landing pages. Higher reply rate than form-fill.
Frequently asked questions
What is a WhatsApp link (wa.me)?▾
A WhatsApp click-to-chat link is a URL in the format https://wa.me/<phone> that opens a direct chat with that number on WhatsApp. You can also pre-fill a message customers will see drafted in their app — they only have to tap Send. It works on iOS, Android, WhatsApp Web, and WhatsApp Desktop. It does NOT require WhatsApp Business API or any paid account.
Is this WhatsApp link generator really free?▾
Yes. No signup, no email, no rate limits, no watermark on the QR. We build it as part of Botline (a paid AI-replies-to-WhatsApp product) but the link generator itself is and always will be 100% free.
What format should I enter my phone number in?▾
Select your country code from the dropdown (defaults to Pakistan +92) and type the rest of the number. We automatically strip a leading 0 — so for a Pakistani number 0322 4031899 you can type either "0322 4031899" or "3224031899". The output is a valid E.164 link like wa.me/923224031899.
Can the pre-filled message contain emojis, line breaks, or symbols?▾
Yes. Type emojis, paragraph breaks, hashtags, punctuation — all of it is supported. We URL-encode the message for you. Customers see it as a regular WhatsApp draft they can edit before sending. The WhatsApp limit is 1024 characters for the pre-fill; we show the counter live.
Why use a wa.me link instead of giving customers my number?▾
Three reasons: one tap on the link opens a chat with no need to save the contact first; the pre-filled message reduces friction and signals what you want; and you can put the link in Instagram bio, on business cards, in email signatures, and on printed packaging via the QR code.
Does the QR code work everywhere?▾
Yes. The QR encodes the wa.me URL, so any QR scanner — including iPhone and Android camera apps — will open the link in the user's WhatsApp. The PNG we generate is 240×240 pixels, suitable for table tents, flyers, and packaging.
Is wa.me different from api.whatsapp.com?▾
No, they're equivalent. WhatsApp accepts both https://wa.me/<phone> and https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=<phone>. We use wa.me because it's shorter and Meta documents it as the official short URL.
Does the link work if I don't have a WhatsApp Business account?▾
Yes. wa.me links work for ANY WhatsApp number — personal, Business, or Business API. The only requirement is that the recipient phone number has WhatsApp installed.
Can I track clicks on my WhatsApp link?▾
Not on wa.me directly — WhatsApp does not provide click analytics for these links. Workarounds: wrap the wa.me URL in a short-link service like Bitly, or connect Botline so every incoming chat is logged with timestamp, source channel, and the eventual conversion.
I make 10+ links a week for different products. Is there a bulk option?▾
Not yet on this free tool. If you find yourself making many links per week and want each one auto-replied by AI with different scripts, that's exactly what Botline is built for — try it free at botline.cc.
Want every WhatsApp message auto-replied 24/7?
The link gets the customer in the door. Botline takes over from there — qualifies the lead, answers product/pricing questions in your tone, books appointments, and hands off to a human only when needed.
