What's new

Pro and Enterprise tenants connected to Meta WhatsApp Cloud API can now author templates, get them approved by Meta, and broadcast to segmented audiences without leaving the Botline dashboard. This closes the biggest re-engagement gap on the platform — once a customer's 24-hour window is closed, templates are the only sanctioned way to reopen it, and broadcasts are how you do it at scale.

Five native template building blocks ship today:

  • Header — text, image, video, or document. Use it for branding or a hero asset.
  • Body — the main message, with {{1}}, {{2}} variables for personalisation.
  • Footer — small grey disclaimer or sign-off, max 60 characters.
  • Buttons — up to three Quick-Reply buttons, or a CTA button to a URL or phone number.
  • Both Marketing and Utility categories — author the right kind for the message, get the right Meta per-conversation rate.

Author and submit for approval

Open Dashboard → WhatsApp → Templates. The 3-column editor combines a form, a live WhatsApp-style preview, and an inline validator that checks Meta's rules in real time — snake_case template name, body under 1024 characters, footer under 60 characters, sample values for every variable.

Click Submit for approval when the validator goes green. Utility templates typically return approved within minutes; marketing templates can take up to a few hours. Status flips live in the Templates list — Pending, Approved, or Rejected with the reason inline.

Compose a broadcast in 4 steps

Open Dashboard → WhatsApp → Broadcasts and click + New broadcast:

  1. Template — pick from your approved templates, fill in any variable values (static or per-customer field).
  2. Audience — filter active conversations (by tag, recency, status, assigned agent) or upload a CSV of E.164-format phone numbers with optional variable columns.
  3. Schedule — send now, or pick a date and time in your tenant timezone.
  4. Review — final summary with audience size, scheduled time, and an estimated cost preflight in your tenant currency before you confirm.

Every broadcast lands on a delivery dashboard tracking sent, delivered, read, replied, and failed counts — updated live as Meta returns webhooks. A Cost report tab makes per-broadcast spend reconciliation against your Meta invoice trivial.

Quality-rating guardrails built in

Botline surfaces your live Meta quality rating (Green / Yellow / Red) on the Broadcasts page header. If your rating slips to Yellow, the composer shows a soft warning before you can send a new broadcast. If it slips to Red, marketing-template broadcasts are blocked outright (utility still goes through) until the rating recovers — protecting your number from a messaging-tier downgrade or temporary suspension.

Available on Pro and Enterprise

Templates and broadcasts are included on the Pro and Enterprise plans at no upcharge from Botline. You pay Meta directly per Cloud API conversation rate (set on your Meta payment method during Cloud API setup) — Botline takes nothing on top.
